Up and Away

Image
It had a brilliant Juno touch to it. That's not the only reason why I liked the movie. It was also because of the kind of industry they are in. And I always feel I will be like Natalie in the working world. I'll be like a kid stuck in a place where I don't belong. Funny reasons why people like certain things. Ain't it ??

Home, Hyd Home

Since I have shifted to Hyderabad, that's where I go when I have to go home. I liked the house. It was big and nicely arranged. It felt a little weird that I was sitting in my room and I did not really feel very different. But that's probably because I did not really go home that often since go away to IIT M in the August of 2005. But it felt good to be home. To eat good home food. I don't remember the last time I really thought about home food but yes, home has good food. :) Probably realized it on Kolkata. So I went home. Didn't feel the city was any different. Didn't feel my home any different after my sister left. Anyway I came back after a day after my sister left. I badly wanted to bring my mom's pickle but since I had no check-in baggage I could not bring in it. But go home I sure did and came back in a jiffy.

Wonder

Wonder why we have exams... Wonder how many more in my life.. Random thoughts. This is what happens when you have an exam but can't mug. I can't wait for exams to end. I'll be flying to Hyd this weekend to see my sister off. And she's off to Seattle where her husband lives. Would be weird though, hasn't sunk in yet that she is married :)

Exam Nights

When I know I have an exam the next day and need to wake up at 8, I just cannot sleep early. Even if I fed up with mugging and have woken up at 8 the previous morning I just cannot sleep early. The killing cold The cacophonous birds The buzzing mosquitoes Oh my ears work like crazy Cos I can even hear the traffic on the main road far away from my room All work their magic on my head to instill a headache. And knowing very well that I need good use of brains for the exam implying a good night's sleep I still get off the bed to blog about it because the mosquitoes are killing me. PS: My heater stopped working, I don't have a mosquito repellent, and I never knew what to do about the birds.

Problems

India should not have western-styled toilets in public restrooms.

Sherlock Holmes

Image
A decently set film with brilliant music by Hans Zimmer and good direction by Guy Ritchie. A good watch. But according to me, he is not too much like Sherlock Holmes. The Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes boxes and fights but his Holmesian deduction is of course still in tact. The case also involves intriguing scientific explanation typical to Holmes. Watch it for Guy Ritchie's sake! :)

Third Day of New Year

I slept from 5 in the morning to 4 in the evening. And slept from 2 late night to 9.30 next day. And the next day was back to the normal life of classes and work and everything else! My party days come to an end!!

Second Day of New Year

I had a picnic, like in school! We had an event, 'Ulhaas', in City Center far far far from our campus. The participants had to make stalls with games and stuff which was essentially a disguised market research study. And the insti arranged for buses. So I woke up late in the morning and caught the after lunch bus with all my wingies. We played DumbC through out and finally reached in a little more than an hour. We checked out the event for a while, played a couple of games and went to check out the mall. We had gelato and other other ice cream. Then I we met up some old friends and went around the mall again. We stopped by at the food court for what else but food. Then we dropped by the video game arcade and played a random set of games from picking up teddy bears to bike racing, surrounded by 6 year olds :), then we went back to the event for some more time, ate some more in CCD and finally returned. Me had flicked from a stall a tiny balloon. The way back again in bus we trie

First Day of New Year

I had slept through most of the day owing to the fact that I had stayed up all night. I just woke up to have a bath eat and chat. Late in the night I had dramatics practice and later in the night, I joined JBS on the jetty (which jets into the lake and floats over it). We partied all night with three guitars, one violin, one harmonica and a bunch of singers. It was fun! Yet I left in the middle. Nowadays I don't feel like staying in one place for too long!

New Year 2010

I was going to have a boring New Year's Eve. My wing was going out for this party that I really didn't want to go and our insti was gonna have a bonfire and music. SO I went tot he party around 11 to find it empty and was reassured for a boring eve and left But after I returned, I realized many people had gone our for dinner and returned. And surprisingly the party had picked up and a couple of my wingies were around as well. And we partied and partied in to the night. Yet I was feeling a bit low. SO I left midway. Yet I was not sleepy. SO I watched 3 Idiots. I could write a separate blogpost about the movie but hten I figured I don't have to. Coz I have only one thing to say about it. It sucked. Period. But my new year's eve was fun!

A different Look

Image
I read a new book recently, Riots by Shashi Tharoor. Why do I call it a new book considering that I don't re-read books? Because I have never read a Tharoor's book before, so that's a new author. I also call it new because I never read something with a style of writing as such. New because I never read a love story when I was expecting a story about riots. I like the idea of a small town, the idea of basing on real characters. But there was one thing I did not distinctly like. But I would not like to make a judgement openly. All I would like to say is that I did not understand how someone who hates something so vehemently do the same thing and end the story expect to earn sympathy for it. May be I m idealistic or just judgmental!

My first 3D film

Image
Well yeah the first 3D film I have seen is Avatar (3D). It was a little different from the thing was I was expecting but it was kinda fun, especially when they start exploring Pandora. They have leaves and fireflies and grass onto you. And the forest is so beautiful. And there are some action sequences where you feel things hurdling at you and past you. But it was great. The funnest part was when you take off your glasses and look at everybody else staring at the same thing all in the funny black glasses :) The story line as such was normal. Nothing great. Mostly it was like an Indian film with lots of sentiments. But it was fun! And the subway salad and gelatino that followed were fun too... :)

3.14

Image
The most interesting part of the book "Life of Pi" was the fact that someone was thoughtful enough to make it pi as in 3.14! It was a beautiful book. Nice and good. A good read. But while I read the book I got a lot of suggestions and comments about the book. The problem is they all gave me the same feedback - grrrrrrrrrreat ending! It was a beautiful book. Nice and good. A good read. But it was not that great an ending. It was good. Not great. Sadly it spoiled the book for me! But when I think again, it is a beautiful book. Nice and good. A good read. :)
